How To Take Care Of Your Short Natural Hair (TWA)

TWA means Teeny Weeny Afro. This is the starting point of your natural hair journey when your hair is the shortest.
Although most naturals find the TWA stage the most difficult, my TWA stage was the time I had the most fun with my hair. I felt free and uninhibited. It was very easy for me to style, wash, comb, etc. I just had fun with it and gave it all the tender loving care it needed to make it grow.

The best thing you can do for your TWA is to moisturise, moisturise and moisturise some more. Natural hair and moisture go hand in hand.
Our hair needs moisture to grow, just like plants need moisture to grow, so make sure you "water" your TWA every single day to get the best out of it. Get a spray bottle and fill it with clean water, you can add any essential oil of your choice, but it's optional, as water is the most important ingredient. Spritz your hair every morning before you style it. It softens the hair and helps to reduce the breakage that occurs when you style your hair.

Never lay your hair on your bed without protecting it with satin or silk especially if your pillowcase is made of cotton. You can either use a satin/silk bonnet or a satin/silk pillowcase.
Satin or silk protects the moisture in your hair while cotton sucks up all the moisture in your hair, leaving it dry, brittle and susceptible to breakage.

This is the best time to enjoy the "wash and go" style as much as you can before your hair gets too long, makeup lol.Style your TWA with lots of bold accessories like hoop earrings, dangling earrings, ribbons and bows in your hair.
Wear makeup and show off your TWA with confidence.
Your hair can be styled with hats, scarfs, pins etc.

The TWA stage is the best time to experiment with all the different types of hair products and different types of natural hair care routines to find the ones that best works for you, which you can then use as your hair gets longer.

Hey Thabita (I love your name by the way ).
Don't give up, it'll be worth it in a few months.
Just remember to deep condition
weekly and do protein treatments every 6 weeks.
