3 Ways To Use Tea Tree Oil For Acne Treatment

How to use tea tree oil for acne

Using an oil to treat a skin condition caused by excess oil sounds strange, right? Well, according to a University of Maryland Medical Center research, tea tree oil is less harsh than benzoyl peroxide and also more effective in treating acne breakouts.
Tea tree oil is made from the Melaleuca alternifoliate plant, it contains terpinen-4-ol, which is what gives it its antimicrobial properties.
Applying tea tree oil to the acne-affected area of your face destroys the bacteria that is living on your skin which leads to acne and pimples.
Its antiseptic and antibacterial properties are what helps in the treatment of acne and pimples. It is a great natural alternative to the harsh chemicals found in most acne treatment products.

When applied to the affected skin, tea tree oil penetrates deeply into the skin to unblock the sebaceous glands. Unblocking the sebaceous glands disinfects the pores of your skin, dries out the whiteheads, zits, blackheads, etc, and prevents them from breaking out in the future.

How to use tea tree oil to treat acne

There are so many different ways you can use this oil to treat acne, I'll be writing about a few of them. As it is extremely potent, make sure you always dilute tea tree oil before applying on your skin; either with water or with any of these other ingredients I'll write about, or any other ingredients you choose to add to it.
The best one to use is 100% raw, pure organic tea tree oil, this will determine the effectiveness of your acne treatment.

1. Tea tree oil diluted with water.

- Wash your face thoroughly and pat dry.

- Add 1 part tea tree oil to 4 parts water.

- Use cotton wool to apply it to your face.

- Leave on for about 30 minutes, then rinse with water and pat dry.

- Moisturise your face.

Do this 2 times a day; morning and night; to see great results.

2. Tea tree oil with aloe vera juice or gel.

The anti-inflammatory properties of aloe vera gel help to kill the bacteria that cause acne and it also soothes the skin.

- Add 2 drops of tea tree oil to 1 teaspoon of aloe vera gel.

- Apply to your face.

- Leave on for about 3 - 4 hours or even overnight if you can.

-Wash your face and apply your face moisturiser.

3. Tea-tree oil with honey.

The natural antibacterial properties in honey will kill the bacteria and heal the skin. Make sure to use raw organic honey for this treatment.

- Mix 2 drops of tea tree oil to 1 teaspoon of raw, organic honey.

- Wash your face thoroughly and apply the mixture.

- Leave on for 3 - 4 hours or even overnight.
- Wash it off and apply your face moisturiser.

You can refrigerate any leftovers from this mixture for your next use.

There are other ways you can use this remedies but I'll leave it at these 3 for now. Will probably write more later, so look out for it in the coming posts.
