Avocado Hair Mask - The Benefits

Avocado hair mask

We all know how yummy and healthy avocado is, but do you know how wonderful it is for your hair? No? Well, stick around, you're about to find out.

Avocado is a fruit filled with potassium (twice the amount of potassium in a banana!), amino acids and about 4 grammes of protein. When you use avocado as a hair mask, you directly feed your hair with all these essential nutrients.

Here are some of the benefits of avocado hair mask:

1. It promotes hair growth.

Hair growth is a delicate metabolic process which you can boost or hinder, depending on how you treat your hair.
Nutritional deficiency, hormonal changes, stress, lack of sleep, cigarette smoking, and harsh chemicals we use on our hair are some of the factors that affect the rate of hair growth.
Regularly treating your hair with chemical-free natural products such as avocado will help to reverse the damage and boost hair growth.

The high levels of vitamins B and E found in avocado work to repair the scalp and boost hair growth.
Avocado nourishes the hair cells, locks in moisture into your hair cells and strengthens hair roots and shafts. When combined with eggs - which is also rich in protein and promotes hair growth - this avocado mask makes a great growth enhancing hair mask.

Directions for use -

What you need -

* 1/2 ripe avocado

* 1 egg

Process -

- Blend the avocado and scoop into a bowl.

- Crack 1 egg into the bowl and whisk together.

- Apply the mixture on your damp or wet hair from roots to tips.

- Massage your scalp and cover your hair with a plastic cap.

- Leave for 20 - 30 minutes and wash your hair with cool water (Don't use hot or warm water, if not the egg will cook on your hair).

- Style as usual.

2. It moisturises hair.

Many people suffer from dry, damaged hair due to many factors and avocado hair mask is a remedy to combat that. The oil in avocado is able to penetrate the hair follicles and moisturise the hair. So you can actually use avocado oil for a deep conditioning treatment. When applied, the monounsaturated fats, high level of vitamin E and phytosterols will nourish and strengthen the follicles of the hair and scalp, preventing further damage to the hair and keep it healthy and radiant.

Directions for use -

What you need -

- 1 tablespoon of avocado oil.

- 1/2 teaspoon of olive oil.

- 1 tablespoon of honey.

- 1 egg.

Process -

- Mix all the ingredients.

- Apply to the hair, cover with plastic cap and leave about 20 minutes.

- Wash hair and style as usual.

3. It prevents dandruff.

Dandruff is caused by major flaking and shedding of dead skin tissues on the scalp. Dead skin tissues can be set off by external factors such as very cold and dry weather, wrong kind of shampoo, washing the hair too frequently, etc.
To combat dandruff, you should keep your scalp well moisturised and clean.

Avocado helps to rejuvenate and moisturise the scalp; the proteins, amino acids, vitamins helps to soothe the scalp and promote a long and healthy hair growth.
Combining argan oil with avocado will make your hair softer, silkier and shinier, help to tame frizzy hair and also treat split ends.
Adding tea tree oil will also help to treat scalp infections.

Directions for use -

What you need -

- 1 ripe avocado.

- 2 tablespoons of honey.

- 10 drops of argan oil.

- 2 drops of tea tree oil.

Process -

- Blend or mash the avocado thoroughly.

- Add the honey, argan oil and tea tree oil and mix all together.

- Apply the mask to your hair and work from roots to tips.

- Leave on for about 20 minutes and wash off.

- Style as usual.

Use avocado hair mask to bring your dry, dull and lifeless hair back to the shiny, frizz-free healthy hair it was meant to be.
